Yes! It’s so easy and your students will love being a part of creating this piece of classroom decor.

I first had this idea last day during Christmas time. It was the famous school year of 2020-2021, and we were in hybrid mode. I had half of my students in person and half online. I wanted to do an activity where everyone can participate safely. And that’s how I came up with making a Class Wreath!

Every student got a piece of the Christmas classroom wreath (Leaf), they colored and write down what they wished for that Christmas. Virtual students told us their wishes and the in-person students created a leaf for them.

We decorated it with some stickers and little pom poms. Is that what you call those fuzzy things?

The students LOVED it! They were so proud of the wreath and happy that their teacher would involve them in this Classroom Decor! And it’s super easy to make!

Why not start the school year with an activity where everyone gets to contribute to creating a beautiful wreath together?

Let’s get started!

Decorations are optional but here are some suggestions:

Step 1: Make the Base for the Wreath

Print out your wreath base template! I print mine on cardstock for longevity of use but regular paper will do as well.

Trace your Wreath Base Template on the cardboard pieces. You need to make 4 for a complete circle.

Cut them out and now go grab the tape!

Tape the end of each piece together. Do this all around the wreath base.

If the last piece overlaps the first piece, it’s totally fine. Let them overlap and just tape them together.

Get your string and cut out a piece long enough to hang. I usually do about 16 inches because I don’t want to hang my wreath too low.

Tie the string that you just cut around the Wreath Base. Make sure that it’s the height that you would like to hang your wreath.

Tape the string to your Wreath Base, both front and back. And Viola! You have yourself a base for your Classroom Wreath. Now, on to the next step!

Step 2: Let Your Students Make The Wreath Components

Print out enough Wreath components for all of your students. There are directions on the Wreath piece, in this case, I’m using my Back To School Crayon Classroom Wreath. You can download this for Free on my TPT store just by clicking on the image or link.

Be sure to create a sample one so your students know what to do and where you want them to write their names. There’s a version below where the names are written on the Crayons themselves.

Step 3: Complete the Wreath

Lay out all of the Wreath components so you have an idea of the spacing between each piece before gluing.

Once you are ready, use the glue stick and just glue down all the wreath components.

For this Back To School Pencil Classroom Wreath, I use the Crayola Regular Markers. Again, colored pencils will do the job as well. I just love the looks of using markers because they are brighter.
