Welcome to Day 12 of our Christmas in July: 25 Days of Free Back-to-School Resources!
Today’s gift is something close to my heart—because while SEL (Social Emotional Learning) is one of the most important parts of the school day, it’s also one of the easiest things to accidentally let slide once the year gets busy.
Let’s change that—with a tool that’s simple, meaningful, and totally doable.

Why This Freebie Matters
A few years ago, I was asked to incorporate more SEL into my upper elementary classroom…
but I wasn’t given any curriculum or support.
Between planning, grading, meetings, and everything else—you know the drill—there just wasn’t time to build something big from scratch.
So I created a low-pressure, high-impact routine: short Morning Meeting SEL slides that take just 10 minutes a day (or a bit more if you have time).
Here’s what happened:
✨ What started as a “filler” became the best part of our day
✨ Students opened up, connected, and reflected
✨ I felt more present, too—because we were building a classroom community, not just checking boxes
When I shared this routine with other teachers? They felt the same way.
